Welcome to my website, PoolMentor.com, official site of mentorship by PBIA Instructor Doug Whaley.  I am located in Antioch, CA which is about 20 miles from Oakland in the East Bay of the greater San Francisco Bay area, and has been home to my wife Sharon and I and our extended families for the last 20 years.  I have been a pool mentor, instructor and active player in Northern California for the last 21 years, and I plan to continue mentoring pool players of all levels - beginner to pro - long after I retire and up until the day God calls me to play a set. 

As a player, I am a regular fixture in the Northern California pool scene from big table open tournaments to bar table leagues, and on my home court which is Crown Billiards in San Ramon, CA.  My standard games include 8-ball, 9-ball, 10-ball, 14.1 Straight pool, 1-Pocket, Bank pool and snooker, and I have won my fair share of many events.  I also regularly play at the BCA Nationals in Las Vegas annually as an Advanced Level player, as well as other regional and open level events.

I received my PBIA (Professional Billiard Instructors of America – formerly BCA Instructors)  Instructor Credential from Randy Goettlicher’s Master Academy Cue-Tech Pool School in Dallas TX, and I am presently at the Certified Level.  My mentorship sessions are usually out of my home in Antioch, or any of the northern California area pool rooms, and private residences upon arrangement.
